Why F&M? Current Students Share
What calls students to Franklin & Marshall鈥檚 campus?
鈥淚 knew I鈥檇 be challenged here, but I also knew that I would be supported and inspired here,鈥 said Emily Harris 鈥27.
As we inch closer to F&M鈥檚 early decision deadline on Nov. 15, students cite these reasons 鈥 and many others 鈥 when they share why F&M felt like the right college fit.
鈥淢y college counselor used the phrase, 鈥楤ig fish, small pond,鈥 when describing F&M.
The small class sizes provide opportunities to make connections with other students
and professors.鈥
鈥淔&M stood out to me as a close-knit community that valued intellectual curiosity,
experiential learning, and close relationships between students and faculty.鈥
鈥淚 knew F&M alumni who spoke at length about the community... Despite their different
backgrounds and class years, they all belonged to sections of campus that felt like
home to them. Now it feels like home to me.鈥
鈥淚 chose to attend F&M because of the close-knit community, as well as the rigorous
course load. I knew that attending F&M would give me the best preparation for my future
research endeavors and career.鈥
鈥淎s an international student, I appreciated F&M's supportive and inclusive environment,
which fosters a strong sense of community and encourages intellectual curiosity.鈥
鈥淭he vibrant people at F&M 鈥 coupled with their incredible talent in the government
department 鈥 convinced me to take the plunge and upend myself to Lancaster from Los
Angeles. Nothing can replace the culture of scholarship and integrity we share at
this wonderful college.鈥
鈥淔&M has many opportunities for students to study off campus, which enables students
to learn in a different type of experiential environment.鈥
鈥淭he small class sizes and supportive environment make it easy to connect with people,
explore different opportunities, and grow both academically and personally.鈥
鈥淚鈥檝e been able to combine my interests in mathematics, computer science and social
impact through research and faculty mentorship.鈥
鈥淲hat truly drew me in was the liberal arts education. The opportunity to freely explore
different disciplines excited me, and the ability to receive a broad and well-rounded
education really stood out to me.鈥

Collaborative Student-Led Podcast Explores Impact of AI
Students at Franklin & Marshall are bringing a liberal arts perspective to discussions about artificial intelligence 鈥 and are doing so through an innovative media project. 鈥淯nmasking the Machine: A Sociological Look at AI鈥 is a podcast produced as part of the course "Sociology of AI" that applies sociological concepts from the course to current headlines about artificial intelligence.
