F&M Public Safety Earns PLEAC Premier Status
Franklin & Marshall College鈥檚 Department of Public Safety has been formally recognized as a (PLEAC) Premier Accredited Agency.
PLEAC designation represents the highest tier of law enforcement credentialing in the Commonwealth. This distinction places F&M among just 50 law enforcement agencies statewide to achieve premier status (Pennsylvania is home to more than 1,000 police departments). The department hosted James Adams, accreditation program coordinator at the , at an Aug. 6 celebration ceremony at Lombardo Welcome Center.

F&M Public Safety has been continuously accredited since 2011, demonstrating a long-standing dedication to meeting and exceeding the highest standards in law enforcement practices. Earning premier status represents not only compliance, but a proven culture of continuous improvement and leadership in public safety.

It serves as a testament to the ongoing hard work and dedication of our officers and staff and underscores the department鈥檚 role in advancing a safe, supportive environment where the F&M community can thrive,鈥� said Jonathan Rosnick, associate vice president and chief of police at F&M.
The PLEAC accreditation program is a rigorous, voluntary process that evaluates law enforcement agencies against established best-practice standards across all aspects of operations, including policy development, training, use of force, investigations, community engagement, officer safety, and organizational management. Agencies must undergo comprehensive self-assessment, independent on-site evaluation, and ongoing periodic review to maintain accredited status, ensuring continued accountability and alignment with evolving professional standards.

F&M Public Safety comprises sworn police officers, security officers, and front desk agents. The team works 24 hours a day to maintain a safe atmosphere for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Under the multi-year partnership, all Diplomats baseball practices and home games will take place at the award-winning facility, providing student-athletes, coaches, and fans with an upgraded collegiate baseball experience.

Layla Beyer 鈥�27 is getting a firsthand look at how communities unite through a shared love of the arts. Beyer, who studies history of art and architecture and theatre, is interning with the Mount Gretna Outdoor Art Show. 鈥淚t is really inspiring to see this kind of work get done for the love of people and art,鈥� she said.
