The Franklin & Marshall College Alumni Association Board represents 30,000 Diplomats from around the world. The newest members of the Alumni Board began their terms July 1.

Karla Avelino 鈥�01 serves as president of the Franklin & Marshall College Alumni Association Board of Directors and is an ex officio member of the College鈥檚 Board of Trustees. She is a partner at the Encino, California, law firm Rogen and Avelino and previously practiced at Kaplan, Klein & Rogen. Avelino graduated from F&M with a major in anthropology and a minor in psychology, and she earned her J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law. Avelino is co-founder of Asociaci贸n Latino para Movimiento Alumnal (ALMA) and has served F&M as a Day of Giving ambassador. She is a member of the College's 1787 Society. 

Preston Kilgore 鈥�14 serves as president-elect of the Alumni Association Board of Directors and is an ex officio member of the College鈥檚 Board of Trustees. He is deputy chief of staff in the Mayor's Office for the City of Oakland. Kilgore graduated from F&M with a major in sociology, and he earned his master鈥檚 in urban and public affairs from the University of San Francisco. Kilgore is a member of the African American Alumni Council and has served F&M as a reunion volunteer.

Al Ingraham 鈥�72 is past president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, having completed a two-year term on June 30, 2026. He recently retired as chief executive officer of the Greater Baltimore Board of Realtors, Inc. Ingraham graduated from F&M with a major in history. Ingraham is the 2009 recipient of the Alumni Medal and the 2016 recipient of the Alumni Development Volunteer Award. He has served F&M as president of the Diplomat Athletic Club since 2010 and is a member of the Tow鈥檙 and Bell Society, the William A. Schnader Society, the Benjamin Franklin Society, and the 1787 Society.

Eileen Ellis 鈥�95 is treasurer of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. She is a retail industry sales executive for Oracle. Ellis graduated from F&M with a major in English and a joint studies major in art and women鈥檚, gender, and sexuality studies. She has served as one of the earliest members of the Franklin & Marshall Admission Network (FAN) since the program's inception and as a Day of Giving ambassador. Ellis is a member of the Benjamin Franklin Society and 1787 Society.

In Gratitude for Alumni Board Service

Several members of the Alumni Association Board concluded their service on June 30. The College and its alumni extend our deepest thanks to the dedication and enduring commitment of our past members.

Liz Smith 鈥�87 concluded 12 years of service to the Alumni Association, where she served as president from 2023-2025. Smith is the chief people officer at Bridgenext. She graduated from F&M with a major in government. Smith has served F&M as a Day of Giving ambassador, Career Services and phonathon volunteer, and as a member of the True Blue Corps. She is a charter member of F&M Women & Philanthropy and is a member of the Benjamin Franklin Society and the 1787 Society.

Michael Dohrmann 鈥�12 completed a six-year term on the Alumni Association Board. On July 1, Dohrmann joined F&M鈥檚 Leadership Council, a select group of alumni, parents, and friends who advise President Rich and his Cabinet. He is a Vice President in the Corporate Treasury department at Goldman Sachs. Dohrmann graduated from F&M with a major in Business, Organizations, and Society with a minor in Psychology. Dohrmann has served as a Day of Giving ambassador and reunion volunteer. He is a member of the Benjamin Franklin Society and 1787 Society.

Victoria Zuckerman 鈥�86 concluded her service to the Alumni Association, having served from 2020-2026. Zuckerman is resident psychologist for Independent Educational Evaluators of America, LLC. She graduated from F&M with majors in psychology and Spanish, and she earned her Ph.D. and a master鈥檚 from Yeshiva University. She is a reunion volunteer and has served F&M as a Day of Giving ambassador and phonathon volunteer. Zuckerman is a member of the John Marshall Society and Benjamin Franklin Society. 

Introducing New Alumni Board Members

The newest members of the Franklin & Marshall College Alumni Association Board of Directors began their terms on July 1.

Tommy Bergstrom 鈥�13 is the associate director of leadership annual gifts at the University of Pennsylvania. Bergstrom graduated from F&M with a government major and earned his master鈥檚 of nonprofit leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. He is the 2023 recipient of the Alumni Development Volunteer Award and has served F&M as a Day of Giving ambassador. Bergstrom is a member of the College鈥檚 1787 Society.

Emma Steffan 鈥�22 is the legislative correspondent and communications assistant for U.S. Representative Lizzie Fletcher. Steffan graduated from F&M with a major in government and minor in history, and she completed a Fulbright Fellowship in Slovakia.

Stephen Tyson 鈥�07 is career development and alumni director for City Year. Tyson graduated from F&M with a degree in anthropology, and he earned an Ed.D. and master鈥檚 of arts from Arcadia University. He is a 2018 recipient of the Sydney N. Bridgett '51 Award and has served F&M as an admission volunteer.

Welcoming Returning Alumni Board Members

Vassilis Coutifaris 鈥�09 is a lecturer in foreign policy at the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from F&M with a joint major in business, organizations and society, and history of art & architecture. Coutifaris earned a doctoral degree in international affairs and a master鈥檚 in international public policy from Johns Hopkins University, and a master鈥檚 in global strategic communication from Georgetown University. He is a regional and reunion volunteer and has served F&M as a class agent and admission volunteer. Coutifaris is a member of the College鈥檚 1787 Society.

Andr茅 Douglas 鈥�15 is partnerships program manager at Wharton Academy at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from F&M as an English major and earned his master鈥檚 in higher education from the University of Pennsylvania. He has served F&M as a Day of Giving ambassador and as a member of the True Blue Corps. Douglas is a member of the College鈥檚 1787 Society.

Zachary Furnald 鈥�10 is counsel in the Investment Management Group at Lowenstein Sandler LLP. He graduated from F&M with majors in government and American studies, and he earned his J.D. from Washington & Lee University. Furnald is a member of the College鈥檚 1787 Society.

Theodore 鈥淭ed鈥� Golfinopoulos 鈥�88 is the owner of TG & Associates of NJ, LLC. He graduated from F&M as a history major, and he earned a master鈥檚 degree from New York University. He has served F&M as a Day of Giving ambassador and as a member of the True Blue Corps. Golfinopoulos is a member of the College鈥檚 Benjamin Franklin Society and 1787 Society.

Christian Hartranft 鈥�12 is chief of staff at the Aspen Institute. He graduated from F&M with a major in government and a minor in French, and he earned a master鈥檚 degree in education policy and management from Harvard University. Hartranft is the 2020 recipient of the Graduates of the Last Decade Award and has served F&M as a Day of Giving ambassador and True Blue Corps member. He is a member of the College鈥檚 1787 Society.

Dawn James 鈥�97 is a global sustainability strategist and energy transition and business leader who supports both the energy and technology sectors. She graduated from F&M with a geosciences major. She earned her master's degree in geoscience from California State University (Northridge) and holds a professional certification in big data and predictive analytics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. James is the 2023 recipient of the Alumni Citation.

Paul Mowery 鈥�71 retired as senior research statistician at Biostatistics, Inc. He graduated from F&M with a major in business administration and earned his master鈥檚 of science from the Pennsylvania State University. Mowery has served F&M as a Day of Giving ambassador and as a Benjamin Rush Pre-Health Honor Society volunteer. He is a member of the William A. Schnader Society, the Benjamin Franklin Society, and the 1787 Society.
